Breaking the Undertow - Butterwheel - Review

Breaking The Undertow has gone and done it again. They’ve released a new single called “Butterwheel.” If you’ve been following Indie Music Plus at all over the past few years you may recognize the name. The man behind the madness is Trevor Heaslip. I think that Trevor is the single most improved artist ever to be played on Indie Music LIVE! over the years. He’s developing a sound that is becoming addicting.

Breaking The Undertow

I guess Trevor won’t be releasing LPs in the near future. His bio states “Shedding prior notions of LP and EP releases as the only way to release music, vocalist/guitarist Heaslip embraces singles as the main form of sharing Breaking The Undertow music.” I suppose that’s ok if he keeps putting singles out at the rate he is because he’s always releasing new music. Butterwheel is his 7th single released in just a few short years.

Some of Trevor’s music is progressing heavier and heavier. “Butterwheel” is sort of in the middle straight down the road modern rock. Big drums, layers of guitars and, vocals processed just right. Trevor says “Everything on this track is about being catchy.” And, although it’s a happy vibe the lyrics are a bit darker and tell a story of a man dealing with mental issues and his struggles to fix them. Heaslip’s family also makes an appearance chanting “Burn” towards the end of the song. I wonder if this was because they were in quarantine? Ask Trevor! Get in touch with him on social and let him know you heard about “Butterwheel” here.

I can’t wait (as always) to hear Trevor’s next and future releases. It seems like every few months he has something new. As I said before he’s progressed so much over the years that it’s exciting to see where he’ll go next. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for his next singles and give them a share!

We’re curious to know what YOU think!! Let us know on social media @IndieMusicPlus and also let the artist know that you heard their music here first on Indie Music Plus! As always, thank you for reading and continuing to support indie music of all genres! Let us review YOUR music!
